The Mongolian national basketball team enters the second round of the Asian Championship qualifiers in 3 days, marking its first participation in this prestigious tournament. In celebration, Mongolia unveils its first-ever mascot a symbolic "Blue Wolf," designed by Nomad Toys. Alongside the 2.2-meter-tall mascot statue, 20 unique āArt Toysā launch to boost national pride and support for the team.

Mongolia competes in the FIBA Asia Cup Qualifiers for the first time, with the UAE national team also returning after a 13-year break. 1ļøā£ The Path to the FIBA Asia Cup
The tournament, which starts in June 2022, concludes in Saudi Arabia in August 2025. On the Asian Cup Qualifiers stage, the 24 participating teams are divided into 6 groups of 4 countries each. The top 2 teams from each group, totaling 12 teams, advance to the final stage. Mongolia is grouped with China, Japan, and Guam in Group C. Currently, Mongolia faces defeats against China and Guam in the qualifiers.

In a larger frame, Mongolian players continue to make international strides. O. Khulan recently signs with WBCAās Wuhan Cranes, making history as the first Mongolian female athlete in a major Asian league, while Sh. Enkhin-Od gains recognition in the NDAA. In addition, Mongoliaās 3x3 basketball teams excel, with the men ranking at 7th globally and the women ranking at 12th, showcasing Mongolia's rising basketball prowess.

š Mongolia's First Green Bond on the Vienna Stock Exchange

Trade Development Bank (TDB) successfully launches Mongoliaās first Social and Green Bond dedicated to international investors.
š° The bond, a 5-year āSenior Unsecured Green and Social Bond," is listed on the Vienna Stock Exchange in Austria, marking a significant milestone for both TDB and Mongoliaās financial sector.
𤲠Dual purpose
This type of bond addresses critical social challenges such as poverty, education, and health, while also supporting ecological sustainability initiatives, including renewable energy and climate change mitigation. TDB aims to channel $2 billion into sustainable development projects by 2030 as part of its broader strategy to transform into a Green Bank.
𤩠Successful Market Debut
TDB, with its extensive experience in the international bond market, has issued a total of 5 bonds since 2007, raising a total of $1.14 billion. This latest bond issuance highlights the bankās commitment to supporting green and social projects, attracting $50 million in financing from the global TOP-10 asset management firms, led by BlackRock (BLK) and Vanguard. Notably, the bond features a competitive 9.5% annual interest rate, with interest and principal payments made semi-annually. FYI, the bond was underwritten by Korea Investment & Security Asia (KISA), a major player in global investment.
š° The funds raised are allocated as follows: 80% ($40 million) goes to green loans for environmental sustainability, while 20% ($10 million) is dedicated to social loans addressing key issues.
š Raising Mongoliaās profile: The successful issuance of this bond marks a historic achievement for Mongoliaās banking sector, raising the countryās financial profile on the international stage. It highlights TDB's commitment to integrating ESG factors into its lending practices, solidifying its leadership in sustainable finance in the region.
